Dinner Slow-Cookers

It’s Chili Season…

Nothing warms a home or a stomach like a pot of Chili!  Check out a few ways to cook it, top it, pair it & party with it!

Party ideas:  Spice up your next party a bit but hosting a Chili Cook Off!  Have everyone bring a small pot of their favorite chili.  Don’t forget to offer some voting slips for everyone to vote and have a prize for the best chili.

Pairing ideas:
Cornbread or corn muffins.  Even the box kind work great. If you have a cast iron pan-cook it in that for out of this world flavor.
Rice-my husband doesn’t believe in chili without rice.
Baked Potatoes
A cool dessert-Chili normally has a kick to it, finish it off with a cool dessert like ice cream.

Topping ideas:
Raw onions
Mustard-seriously try it, it’s delicious!
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Sour Cream
Fritos
Diced Avocado
An assortment of hot sauces

Angie’s Chili
2 bottles beer, the darker the better
4 Tbsp cinnamon
1 onion, peeled and diced
2 bottles chili sauce
1lb Spicy italian sausage
1lb Venison or hamburger
1 can (28oz) Dark Kidney beans, drained
1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (28oz) diced tomatoes for chili
2 cloves garlic peeled, minced
2 Green peppers, seeds removed and diced
5 tbsp Chili powder

Easy: put in a pot bring to boil, reduce to simmer and cook covered for 3 hours or so.
Better: brown onion for a few minutes and then add meats to brown. Add remaining ingredients bring to boil and reduce to simmer for 1-3 hours.
Crockpot works great all day 🙂
Remove lid for last 15-30 min.
This can easily be halved.

Have a great day!
