Another great way to enjoy summer’s bountiful veggies-grill them! I dare you, if you have never tried grilled veggies, you won’t believe what you have missed!
- Wash your veggies and let air dry for a while or paper towel dry.
- Slice your veggies into large pieces to grill on the grate (the more surface area equals more grilling flavor) or slice into bite size pieces and grill on veggie tray with small holes if you have it.
- Season your veggies with olive oil and garlic salt. If you are lucky enough to live by a Wegmans try Basting Oil instead, it really kicks it up a notch.
- Grill just a few minutes on each side for amazing flavor!
A few great veggies for the grill; asparagus, peppers, mushrooms, corn, onions, romaine lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, potatoes-especially sweet potatoes…
A couple of veggies that might be tricky; tomatoes (whole is best), carrots (slice small or finish in the oven).
More grilled veggie tips;
- Have a few guests coming over? Get the grill marks on high heat and then put veggies on a sheet pan and finish in the oven right before dinner.
- Veggies are great served at room temperature.
- Serve grilled veggies with a dipping sauce like ranch dressing, or a spicy seasoned tomato sauce or a balsamic glaze.
- Puree your grilled veggies into a sauce for grilled meats, yum!
Happy Grilling!
