Sheet Pan Magic

Sheet pans can help you make magic in the kitchen, whether you are looking for less dishes, less cooking time or just something easier they are the secret!

Less dishes; sheet pans make great serving dishes.  If your sheet pan looks like something ran it over, it’s okay, just cover it in foil.  Actually even if it looks good, cover it anyway to keep it that way and make clean up even easier!

Less hands-on cooking time; this works great especially if you are cooking for more than 4 people.  Sear your protein or veggies first on the stove top and then finish on a sheet pan in the oven.  Less splatters, and less time you are standing over the stove.

Easier; less dishes, less clean up, and less time over the stove…but wait there’s more!  You can pre-partially cook so many things on the stove top getting a nice sear and then put on a sheet pan and put in fridge.  Chicken, steak, pork and thicker types of seafood work great.  Put them on one pan and then your veggies on another for better results on cooking times needed.  Come home from a long day and pop the meal on the sheet pan in the oven while you enjoy a glass of wine.

For my Steak Sheet Pan Special pictured here;

  • Cut all of your veggies & potatoes earlier in the day or even the day before.
  • Coat everything in a little olive oil, garlic salt & pepper.
  • Cook green peppers, mushrooms and onions on your stove top until half way done.
  • Cook summer squash, colored peppers and potatoes on your grill until half way done-getting grill marks basically.
  • Add summer squash, colored peppers, mushroom, onions, green peppers and potatoes to sheet pan and finish in the oven.
  • Cook steak on the grill-make sure and let it rest at least 5 minutes.  Slice and serve on the sheet tray.  Slicing and serving your steak this way makes it go farther (you don’t always need a whole steak per person with so many sides) and it makes it easier to enjoy.
