So you’re going on a road trip? Maybe to see your family or maybe like in the “old” days your jumping in the car for a little bit to see where the road takes you. Realizing that with gas prices our trips might be shorter, don’t forget exploring your town as if you were a visitor. Whichever it is, good memories are sure to be included! What about good food?

Well my last road trip I did zero planning and this was my lunch and dinner! It’s ok once in awhile and sure it tasted really good enjoying a few of my favs but those prices and calories can sneak up on you!
Check out a few other ideas below for when you have a moment to plan for the open road…
Munchies
- Grapes-easy wash and pack in snack bags. Or for an extra treat after you wash roll in sugar and add to the freezer to pack before you go.
- Strawberries
- Dried fruit
- Dry cereal, like cheerios-easy healthier snack when driving…
- Celery
- Carrots
- Cucumber slices
- Snow peas
- Jicama, hard to peel but good to eat…
- Jerky
Lunch/Dinner
- Sandwiches-Skip the bread and roll your favorite sandwich ingredients in a wrap. Or roll your lunch meat up in cheese.
- Sushi-yum easy to eat in the car out of your cooler.
- Salad-pack a good one and stop at a rest stop, enjoy the scenery and your dinner.
No matter where the road takes you enjoy the scenery and all our amazing country offers!
