Garlicky Scalloped Potatoes

8 potatoes, peeled 

1/2 stick butter

1 Tbsp nutmeg

1 Tbsp minced garlic 

1 cup Heavy cream

1/2 cup gruyere cheese, shredded

1 tsp garlic salt

Non stick spray 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  1. Slice potatoes in thin rounds.
  2. Dice butter and mix in with nutmeg, garlic, heavy cream and salt.
  3. Spray casserole dish with non stick spray.
  4. Drizzle spoon of liquid mixture across bottom of dish Add one layer of potato rounds slightly overlapping each other. 
  5. Drizzle spoon of liquid mixture over potatoes and a small handful of shredded cheese. Repeat with potatoes, liquid and cheese until all used up. 
  6. Bake covered for 45 min.  Uncover and press down with a spatula. Bake an additional 30 min uncovered.

Let stand for 10 min on counter before cutting.

Tip: an 8×8 or 9×13 pan works best.
