Are you a plain eater or like me when I sit down the first thing I do is look for the food toppings? Toppings or condiments as they are often referred to as normally something that adds flavor to your food. There are few ways to think about this. Plain eater could mean that the food you are eating is already seasoned perfectly and you want that flavor. Or if you are food topping person you might be looking for the layers of flavor not only in taste but in looks.
Salt, pepper, ketchup, hot sauce – the really easy ones to use and a little can add some great flavor.
I love putting out a variety of food toppings with all kinds of food, making your dish even more tasty and more fun! This tray of Easy Food Toppings could be served for so many things like hamburgers, tacos, salad, soup or a fun nacho bar party!
Easy Food Toppings
- Shredded Lettuce-buy the bag shredded or slice up a head of iceberg
- Shredded Cheese-easy to buy the bag or you can grate your own
- Black Beans – a can of black beans drained well
- Jalapeños-I find those in the jar have a little less kick, if you want more kick slice up fresh
- Black olives, sliced-easy to buy pre-sliced or buy whole and slice
- Banana Peppers-drain well from the jar
- Pico de Gallo-available in some stores pre made in produce, easy recipe below
Pico de Gallo
- 1 lime zest and juice
- 1 Tbsp Tajin Classico
- 1/4 onion, peeled and small diced
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- Mix all together and serve.
Note: Making it the day before will give the flavors time to get even better. Make and refrigerate. Right before serving, drain out excess juice. Oh and traditionally Pico De Gallo is served with cilantro on top. I don’t care for cilantro so I don’t add it, but if you do add away.
Have fun with it!
